About Me.
Hello, and welcome. My name is Mozart M. Telles, DNP, MSN, RN, a Doctor of Nursing Practice with a specialization in Psychiatric-Mental Health. I am currently completing the final phase of national board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), continuing a professional journey deeply rooted in service, compassion, and the pursuit of clinical excellence.
My commitment to mental health care reflects more than a career choice—it is a lifelong dedication to helping individuals navigate some of the most challenging and vulnerable moments of their lives. Every patient encounter, research endeavor, and clinical decision I make is guided by a belief that every person deserves dignity, respect, and access to thoughtful, evidence-based treatment.
Background
Languages and Communication
Fluent in English, Portuguese (native), and Spanish, I am adept at communicating with a diverse range of patients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
Licensure and Certifications:
I maintain active nursing licensure in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut, allowing me to serve a diverse and geographically varied population. My training includes certifications in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, CPR/AED, PALS, and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) intervention. My informatics competencies include EPIC, HCS, eMAR, Pyxis medication administration, and multiple electronic health systems widely used in modern healthcare.
Across all roles, I have consistently demonstrated the ability to remain composed in high-stress environments, conduct detailed psychiatric evaluations, support safe medication administration processes, and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams. My clinical practice is strengthened by strong communication skills, critical thinking, and an unwavering commitment to patient advocacy.
Professional Journey
My path into healthcare began long before I entered the nursing profession. I first served in the United States Army as a Combat Medic Specialist, working in high-pressure environments where decisions often carried life-or-death consequences. These experiences shaped my approach to patient care in profound ways. The Army instilled in me the discipline to think clearly under extreme stress, the moral responsibility to act decisively, and the humility to recognize how fragile and valuable human life truly is.
During this period, I discovered my calling in psychiatric care. I saw firsthand how trauma, stress, and the weight of personal experiences can manifest in ways that go far beyond physical wounds. This realization propelled me into nursing with a focus on mental health, setting the foundation for the work I continue to build today.
Over the years, I have served patients across a wide range of settings, including emergency departments, inpatient units, acute crisis environments, and specialized child and adolescent psychiatric services. I have had the privilege of working at institutions such as Baystate Hospital, Boston Children’s Hospital, Arbour HRI Hospital, Arbour-Fuller Hospital, and Mount Auburn Hospital. In these roles, I conducted psychiatric assessments, supported medication management, participated in multidisciplinary treatment planning, and provided care for individuals of all ages navigating complex mental health needs. These experiences allowed me to witness the full spectrum of psychiatric presentations—from acute agitation and crisis states to long-term mood, behavioral, and trauma-related disorders.
Each clinical encounter reinforced my belief that mental health care must be tailored, thoughtful, and grounded in both science and humanity. Whether supporting a child overwhelmed by anxiety or an adult facing severe psychiatric distress, I have learned that healing requires listening deeply, responding with empathy, and creating a safe space where individuals feel heard and understood.
Education:
My academic journey reflects a commitment to excellence in clinical practice and a desire to contribute meaningfully to the evolving field of psychiatric care. I completed my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a specialization in Psychiatric-Mental Health, an advanced program emphasizing high-level clinical decision-making, leadership, and the integration of research into patient care. Prior to earning my doctorate, I completed both my Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), the latter at MCPHS University in Boston, where I built a strong foundation in evidence-based practice and clinical reasoning.
Throughout my education, I focused on understanding complex psychiatric conditions, refining skills in assessment and diagnosis, and applying advanced therapeutic approaches tailored to individuals across the lifespan. My doctoral work emphasized clinical precision, ethical decision-making, systems-level thinking, and the application of research into real-world mental health challenges.
